Still waiting
Well I am still waiting for Dennis to snail mail me his pictures from the balloon fiesta! We were going to go to Walmart when we were in Santa Fe but we were to tired to go over and have them burn a CD! So I am waiting for him to send me his pictures so I can post another message about the Balloon Feista! Dennis took way more pictures then I did and some of the time I just didn't take my camera because I knew that he had his! So hopefully this weekend I will get a disk from him! Until then I just wanted you to know that I hadden't fallen off of the face of the earth! Have a wonderful fallish weekend!
Crocheting
Well when I started this blog I thought I would be writing about my Crocheting. However that hasn't happened till now! When we were in Santa Fe at breakfast on of the guys found this card from the "Tourist Rack" about this place called "Oodles!" It is a yarn & bead store. I said O~My Goodness I Must Go! So first we went to see the Georgia O'Keef museum and saw all of the beautiful paintings! What amazed me about the paintings were how small they were! The really interesting things were they had several photos of Georgia. She was a very beautiful woman even in her later years she had this shining quality about her! They were also showing some Andy Warhol paintings. I looked at a few but I really don't like Andy Warhol so I skipped most of those! So then off to Oodles! We got there right when the lady who was minding the store for the owner came. I had the boys go over to this church near by and take a look while I oodled the wares in the store! Ok I am not a yarn snob! In fact I purchase most of my yarn at Walmart. So this was quite an experience! The Color, the texture, the price! I found this ribbon yarn the was variegated gold, light gold, and rosy pink. I just had to have it! (I have been very into pink this year for some reason and this stuff just caught my eye!) I looked at the price and almost had a heart attack! ($18.00 a skein!) I pushed my pride and snobbery a side and purchased 4 skeins! I am now making it into a scarf for me for this winter. I usually make stuff for everyone else but now I am working on this for me! I think I am going back and get some of the Sari Yarn. They take old saris and strip them then spin them into beautiful yarn. I think I will make a scarf for Carole Story, my new cousin-in law. Oh ~ they also have teaching classes there also! I would like to learn to knit, so I may have to go up there to take a couple of classes! Now, I just have to finish a baby blanket for Alisha Elderidge first!
Happy Birthday To Me #2
Well Melanie got me this great mug for my birthday! Well it is more like a tureen! It holds about 3-4 regular size cups! (See size difference to other mugs on window sil!) I am having to make my coffee half regular and half decaf! That much coffee makes me a little jumpy! But I love the mug and Mel knows just how much I love Mary Englebright! She also gave me this cute ME Book on Pals! And some cute coffee socks too! Mom & I drove through Madrid, New Mexico. We didn't stop but just drove through. We enjoy these drives so much! I also found a parcle of land the I would love to buy...you know..."If I Had A Million Dollars!" But it was so beautiful. Then mom & I went on to Santa Fe and had Lunch at The Santa Fe Baking Co. Then we were so exciting we came home and took a nap! Oh ~ Mom (me) got me a case for my PDA! So now I am all set! (I would like to get a couple more game cards!) And I also bought for myself some font & art work disks from DJ Inkers! I just love their stuff and use it all of the time for the church.
Balloons!
Hey the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta has started! This morning Mom & I were watching the balloons on the TV! Several of the balloons were doing the "Splash & Dash! Thats where they fly over the Rio Grande River and drop down and get the basket wet! Then dash up back up in the air! One of the commentators stated that the first time he did a "Splash & Dash" he was wet up to his waist! Then later just before we went to church the balloons started flying North and they were landing around our house! This first picture is of a balloon flying just over our garage! (Our house is a Southwest style house...It's a big box that's brown!) It was always exciting to see them! The second picture is of a balloon that is just lifting off from around our house after exchanging passengers! You can also see their Chase Crew in the left hand corner! There is 1-2 chase trucks or vans for each of the 700 hot air balloons! All of them are volunteers! The crew and pliot has to be at the Balloon field in the very early am. The Pliots as early at 3:00 a.m. and the chase crews about 4:30 a.m. During that time they are testing the air currents to see if they can fly that day! The third picture is of the Bees...Jill & Joe Bee. They are Braizallian made and were brought to the Balloon Fiesta 2 years ago where they were sold to 2 people in Arizona. If the conditions are right the bees hands have velcro on them and when they lift off they are holding hands! They some how they get them to realise before to long! They are just some of the "Special Shape" Balloons that they have at the fiesta! The last picture was taken just down the street from our house and you can see the balloons coming toward us! My friend Dennis & His dad & His friend Jorge are coming Thursday for the Weekend from California! We will be going to see the Special Shapes lift off and then the Glowdeo that evening! Then another mass lift off on Saturday! They we are going to Santa Fe for the weekend! It should be a lot of fun! I'll keep you Posted!
