April 1st ~ No Fooling!

This last weekend Mom & I went to a friend's wedding in Moab, Utah! It was great fun and I got to see some friends from California that I hadn't seen in a while! Thursday ~ my (2nd) cousin Stephen came out from Bellingham, Washington and we picked him up at the airport. Friday morning we got up and left for Moab. Stephen drove us through Durango, Colorado on the way to Cortez, Co. to visit his parents. (Mom & I usually drive through Shiprock area to get to Cortez.) After a fun stop in Cortez for lunch where Stephen got to visit with his mom & dad and his brother and wife then we left for Moab! We were staying at the Adventure Bus Headquarters with mom & I staying with Ardell's boss & the Best Woman, Stephanie in her home and the guys staying in the actual Adventure Bus "Molly!" It was a fun reunion for all that went! Since I used to hang out with this mothey crew of guys I was at the bachelor party on Friday night. It was really funny! There were 3 married guys, the bachelor, and 3 single gals! The bachelor party consited of us sitting around a fire and talking about old times! Oh yea ~ and drinking some great hard cider! Saturday morning we got up and the guys went out to the ranch where the wedding was happening and helped put up the tent! Mom & I went out after a while and followed the tent guys into the ranch! The guys did a great job of putting the tent up! Then we went back to town saw some sights and had some lunch then took showers and got dressed up and back to the ranch for the wedding! It was beautiful! The sun came out and it warmed up and they had the wedding outside infront of this beautiful tree that was budding out! Ardell looked handsome and Becky was a beautiful bride! Their vows were wonderful and heartfelt! They both did a wonderful job! After the ceremony we adjourned to the tent where mom & I snagged a prime spot. Right next to the heater vent! The reception was a lot of fun! Becky's family brought some wonderful Wisconsin cheese & beer from their home state! There were people from coast to coast at the wedding & reception! Then a wonderful BBQ dinner from the Moab Brewery! Mom & I left around 9:30 p.m. cuz she was very sleepy! It had been a very busy day! We woke up and decided to go to Arches National Park which is on the north end of Moab with Billy & Stephen! We had breakfast at McDonald's (drive through!) and headed off to Arches! After we got into the park we saw a guy tight rope walking between 2 of the Gossiping Sisters! We stopped the car and Billy & Stephen took a few pictures! Then we headed out to the Windows & Caves area! Mom & i walked up about 3/4 of the way to one of the big window arches! Not bad walking for a 78 year old woman! The guys took the trail around that window and had a wonderful time! Then we drove them over to the window/cave area and they took my camera and walked around! We drove back to Adventure Bus Headquarters and called Stephen's parents who were picking him up to drive him back to Bellingham WA! By the time we got back and had a quick lunch. Robyn & Charles showed up and took Stephen. Mom had a short nap. While mom was napping Billy, Ardith (Ardell's sister), Stephanie & I had planned to go back to Arches and go to the Wolf Ranch & Delicate Arch for sunset! We stopped at the mini mart for some munchies and then headed back to Arches. The Wolf Ranch is a homestead that was settled in the 1890's! It is amazing that 4 people lived and slept in the little home that they built that is no bigger than my bathroom at home! Billy, Ardith, & Stephanie took the mile and a half walk to the Delicate Arch! However it also was the day of Spring Forward and the ranger had is time off! We got there around 6:00 p.m. and they didn't come back till 8:15 p.m.! But they had a wonderful time and took some great pictures! With a quick stop at Ardell & Becky's to say good by we got back to Headquarters and had a very sleepy dinner! We all went to bed and by the time Ardell woke us up Billy had already left for California! Mom & I got dressed and packed and also headed out! We got home very tired but having wonderful memories of our beautiful trip to Moab & Adventure Bus!
